I don’t think I mentioned it, but Willow & I have completed our advanced obedience class with Colonial Dog School. Willow worked with Mom, and I pretended to work with Dad. Sometimes I feel like Willow is a show-off! I decided that I didn’t want to listen, and Dad walked me away from the class to work on my heel and stuff. But I’m a teenager, so I don’t have to pay attention, right? Besides, I’d been up for a couple of hours and was a bit sleepy. I was kind of glad when Dad popped me back into my crate. I had a little nap, then Mom came and got me out. All my friends from the class were in a group, and we went and stood by them. I tried to play, but everyone else was paying attention to Miss Nancy. Except maybe Sophie, maybe because we’re the same age. So then Mom & I walked up to Miss Nancy. I decided to listen to Mom and do a sit, so I was able to get my paper saying that I graduated. I, Heritage Hill Ahoy Matey, have a piece of paper saying that I graduated advanced obedience!! I’m so glad I did that sit in the end.
ps – Mom & Dad, don’t think I didn’t hear you saying that I might have to do the class again next Spring. Because I did. And maybe I might like that. Because I love Miss Nancy and Colonial Dog School.

I love to snooze on soft things. There’s Willow’s bed (she doesn’t use it, so now it’s mine), and Mom & Dad’s bed (but I’m not allowed on there for awhile), and the sofas. I like to snuggle next to Willow. I like to snooze on the chaise, so I can look up and watch Cooper in his kitty condo. When Mom sits under the afghan, I like to snuggle on top of her feet. But my favorite, best of all soft place is when Mom & Dad throw the big sofa pillows on the floor. Usually they’re blocking the upstairs, but sometimes they’re flat on the ground, and I can perch on top of one. The long one is my favorite, but usually I have to make do with a small one. Then Mom & Dad sing the “Dog Island” song to me. It sounds like “Pig Island” but they changed words for me. They must love me a lot.

- Going to the farmers’ market
- Laying flat under a chair in the kitchen
- Trying to lick Cooper
- My friends at the pub
- Rawhide knots
- Wrestling with Willow
- Visiting PetSmart
- Running up and down the stairs
- Snoozing in my crate
- Everyone in my pack!

Last weekend Mom & Dad packed us all up (except for Cooper) and we drove and drove and drove. It got very hilly. When we stopped we were in the Blue Ridge Mountains at Fox Hill B&B in Fairfield, VA. That’s just outside of Lexington. We had a grand time, taking long walks and playing in the meadow. There was another dog who lived there, Ellie, who seemed really nice. She chased bunnies a lot, and I don’t think she knew quite what to make of me. But she made friends with Willow. There were horses, too. They all ran up to say hello when Dad took us by the barn. And there was a pond where some bull frogs lived. The frogs made funny noises.
While we were there, Mom & Dad took us to Rockbridge Vineyard. Willow & I had a lot of fun meeting people there. We got to shop with Mom & Dad, and Mom held me during the wine tasting. Willow sat at Mom’s feet, and she was such a good dog. I hope someday I can sit still for that long. Lots of people pet me and let me lick them. I even got in a few nibbles when they put their fingers in my mouth. That doesn’t happen much, since there’s a “no body parts in mouth rule,” but I don’t think these people heard about it. Later I got to play outside with Willow & Mom while Dad bought some wine.
I love Fox Hill, and I hope that I get to go back soon!
ps – feel better Mom. I’m sorry one of my ticks gave you lyme disease. Please don’t turn green.

I have a lot to tell you!
I missed the farmers’ market on Saturday – instead we had a neighborhood garage sale! It was very exciting. Lots of people came to the house and walked around in our driveway. I got to bark at them with Willow from the window. Sometimes I got to play on the lawn, and for a while I practiced being a lap dog on Mom. After the sale Willow & I took naps. Then later on, there was more neighborhood stuff. There was a big picnic up on the circle. Dad grilled lots of food, but I didn’t get to eat any of it. But I didn’t really notice because there were lots of dogs to play with: Willow, Isabel, Mick, and Daisy. And some kids played with me. And I made a new friend named Diane. She walked me for a while and let me lick her. That was nice.
On Saturday my cousin & pack-mate Hannah broke her leg. I love Hannah a lot, and hope she gets well soon. I hope I can come & see you & cheer you up, Hannah!!
Sunday was very wet. I didn’t like going out, but Mom & Dad made me. Willow was really good about it, so I tried to follow her example. We got to play and play all day inside.
One last thing – Willow & I have new food, and we love it SO MUCH! They’re both turducken flavor, and mine is just for puppies. I am so happy that Mom & Dad got us new food. Does turducken mean “yummy”?

I was a car dog a lot this week. Last night was the best – Mom & Dad piled us all in the car, and I barked a little bit, and then they got me out of my crate and we were at Pet Smart! Yippee! I saw my old neighbor Tanya, and she cuddled me a while. I tried to chew on her a few times, but I don’t think Mom noticed. I met a lot of other nice people there, too, and saw some other dogs, too. There was so much to see!
After, Willow and I waited in the car for a few minutes, and then the next time we got out we were at the best place ever, Bruster’s. We stood on line (Daddy wants Mom to write “in line”, but Mom’s from northern NJ, so we say “on line”) and lots of people smiled at me. Our neighbors Gary and Carol were there, too. Then we went to a bench and, surprise, I got to eat ice cream!!!!! Willow & I each had our own dish, and there was a whole scoop and a dog biscuit. After my snack I played for a bit with 2 nice girls that came by. They said they go to the farmers’ market, so I might get to play with them again.
My big accomplishment this week: I can climb stairs! Not just the couple of stairs in the front of the house, but I can go from downstairs to upstairs. I do it all the time! There’s a gate at the top, so there’s nowhere to go when I get there, but it’s still fun. I’m not very good at going down. I try to do it one at a time, but most of the time someone helps me. I kind of like to tumble down the last 2 onto my bed at the bottom, but Mom says that’s not very safe.

Sorry I haven’t written in awhile – I’ve been too busy trying to chew everything in sight to tell Mom what to type for me. Mom and Dad say I’m a little zombie dog, but I don’t get it.
I’ve had a lot of fun the last week and a half. My pack is now international! I added a new member last week, my friend Jim from Switzerland. I love him! He has a beard that I like to jump up and try to chew on. He pets me and rubs my belly and always has a smile for me.
I saw Dr. Brown again – she gave me some Cheese Whiz! And Mom & Dad took me & Willow to the farmers’ market. We met lots of people and I saw lots of other dogs. They were all very polite. I watched Willow – she was very nice to people, and scored lots of belly rubs. I have to figure out how she does it, so I can get belly rubs, too. I’ll think about that once I finish trying to chew on everyone in sight. Mom & Dad & Jim took me & Willow to see everyone at the pub, too, and that was great!! I even got to try some bacon!
I have learned a lot, too. When people call me to come, I run to them. I am good at sitting. I walk with Daddy when he tells me to. Last night I learned “off.” I am learning to go inside and to crate up. And I can pee on command (and sometimes not on command).
Now that I’m not trying to eat Mom’s fingers every time she’s near, perhaps I’ll be able to focus enough again to tell her what to type soon. If you don’t hear from me, then you’ll know what I’ve been up to.

Yesterday when Mom came home to walk me & Willow at lunchtime, we raised a ruckus and got her to take us car dogging. I was a little sad because we had to take our naps anyway, but after work Mom & Dad came and showed me around New Town. Willow walked and Mom carried me. We knocked on the salon window and I met a new friend Jennifer, who smiled and waved at me. Then we walked past the movie theater and book store, and we went into a store to look at dog collars and leashes. They didn’t have any for me. I was also bummed because there were frisbees, too, but we didn’t get one.

My week has largely consisted of snoozing, eating, playing with Willow, and trying to eat mulch. And drinking water. A lot of water. So much water that I’m in danger of earning the name “Heritage Hill Pee Machine”. This morning Mom was calling me “Wiki Pee Pants”. Is this bad??
So, it’s looking like I’m going to be named either “Heritage Hill Pee Machine” or “Heritage Hill Ahoy Matey” – I think I’d like to be “HH How many rs in rrrrrrrrrrrrr”…
